Atlanta is a city, not a synonym for all of metro Atlanta or for Fulton County. Fulton's overview places Atlanta between its northern and southern communities, while DeKalb's map identifies Atlanta as partly within DeKalb. The exact crash location therefore matters when a report or record search begins with the broad description Atlanta.[1][2]

Downtown roadway references

The Downtown Connector carries the combined I-75/I-85 route and connects with I-20. AARoads documents southbound ramps near Courtland Street and John Lewis Freedom Parkway as well as the interstate split farther south. Keep those specific road references when comparing a crash narrative with a map or report; the city name alone supplies much less detail.[4]

Atlanta Police and State Patrol

APD's Central Records Unit holds reports created by Atlanta Police officers and provides an online BuyCrash option. ATL311 separately explains that Georgia State Patrol handles certain interstate crashes within city limits and that the City does not have copies of those GSP reports. Start with the investigating agency shown on the incident paperwork.[3][5]
