Metro Atlanta: jurisdictions and records

Metro Atlanta is the regional setting for this reference, rather than a single county or court jurisdiction. The Atlanta Regional Commission addresses freight movement through a regional mobility plan, while Georgia trial courts have different geographic reach and subject-matter responsibilities. Those distinctions matter when tracing a truck crash from a roadway to an agency report or a court record.[1][2]
Three separate questions
For a local inquiry, identify the road segment first, the reporting agency second, and the relevant court separately. Fulton County tells readers to request a report from the police agency that responded if another agency handled the incident. Its records page should therefore not be treated as a clearinghouse for every crash described as occurring in Atlanta.[3]

Georgia state courts operate within a county and hear civil matters not reserved exclusively to superior courts. Municipal courts have a different role that includes traffic offenses and ordinance cases. A traffic-citation court and a civil court are not interchangeable descriptions of where an injury claim proceeds.[2]
Regional freight context
ARC plans for freight across the road and intermodal network, considering safety and operations as well as infrastructure investment. This publication follows that regional approach for roads, but keeps cities and counties separate in its geographic index. Road entries explain source material; they do not determine where any particular lawsuit must be filed.[1][2]
