Project examplesTransform 285/400; I-285/I-20 West[2][3]

I-285 is the Perimeter referenced in Georgia's restrictions on certain commercial-vehicle travel inside the Atlanta loop. The restriction concerns specified portions of I-20, I-75, I-85 and Georgia 400 inside I-285; it is not a statement that commercial trucks are prohibited from I-285 itself. The exceptions are part of the rule.[1]

Different interchanges, different records

GDOT's undated Transform 285/400 overview describes the interchange design, including flyover ramps and collector-distributor lanes. Its stated limits extend from west of Roswell Road to east of Ashford Dunwoody Road on I-285 and from Glenridge Connector to Spalding Drive on SR 400.[2]

The west-interchange project is a separate undertaking in Fulton and Cobb counties. GDOT's January 2026 fact sheet describes reconstructed ramps, additional lanes and a westbound collector-distributor connection toward Fulton Industrial Boulevard. A source about one interchange should not be used as evidence of conditions at the other.[3]

Reading project information

The west-interchange fact sheet reports that construction began in July 2025 and anticipates substantial completion in 2030. That is the schedule stated in that document, not confirmation of the status of every ramp on a later date. For a crash inquiry, retain the particular interchange and travel direction rather than using only the general term Perimeter.[3]
