The I-75 corridor has several distinct lane facilities relevant to reading a metro Atlanta crash location. Peach Pass describes the Northwest Corridor along I-75/I-575 and the South Metro lanes between Henry and Clayton counties. GDOT's Commercial Vehicle Lanes project is a separate proposal farther south, rather than another name for either existing express-lane facility.[1][2][3]
Express-lane geography
The Northwest Corridor consists of reversible toll lanes along I-75 from Akers Mill Road to Hickory Grove Road and along I-575 from I-75 to Sixes Road. Peach Pass explains that the direction can change for major events or incidents, so the facility name alone does not establish its operating direction at the time of a crash.[1]
The South Metro lanes run in the I-75 median from SR 155 in Henry County to SR 138 in Clayton County. The operator states that vehicles with six or fewer wheels may use them with an eligible pass and that tractor-trailers are not allowed. That statement concerns the express lanes, not a ban on trucks from the entire interstate.[2]
Commercial Vehicle Lanes project
GDOT's April 2026 FAQ describes proposed barrier-separated northbound commercial-vehicle lanes from the I-75/I-475 interchange in Monroe County toward Henry County. It calls the project a way to separate truck and passenger traffic. This reference describes the proposal as published and does not present those lanes as open to traffic.[3]
